BILL KELLER & BERNARD SAMSTAG have added another link at the bottom of our Ol' Timers website.  It is called Family Tree.  They need volunteers to send them information like: How many children they had, how many grandchildren plus great-grandchildren, also include adopted children and children from a second marriage.  Frank Myers, Ed Fosmire, Don Peek, Bill Keller and Jack Henson have already volunteered.  That should fill up over a page by themselves.  Send to: Bill Keller, 660 N. Apache Dr., Dewey, AZ 86327.
(P.S. IF YOU CAN SEND YOUR INFORMATION & PICTURES TO ME OVER THE INTERNET THAT WOULD BE GREAT FOR ME.) You can go directly there by clicking this URL address:

JACK & GLADYS MATTHEWS have moved to La Quinta.  Their new address is: 81810 Eagle Claw Drive, La Quinta, CA 92253. They are settling in and love their new community.

DICK & SHARON ANDERSEN --   Congratulations are in order. Their oldest granddaughter, VERONICA, will graduate in May from Cal State Long Beach and plans to go on for her Masters in the fall.   Her major is geriatrics/recreation.  She has worked at Leisure World Laguna Woods with seniors  (The Editor wonders if she has met Jim & Sharyl Grider?)   Another granddaughter, MEGAN, is planning a wedding for July.  She and hubby-to-be will both be seniors at Cal State Fullerton this coming fall.

JOHN ELLIOTT writes that his aunt Nellie celebrated her 100th birthday on April 20th with a big fish & chip bash at the White Harte Inn in Woodland Hills.  John and Lupe are planning to take a cruise to Alaska shortly.  He prays that the cruise is much smoother than the freighter that brought him across the North Atlantic to America many years ago.  If anyone knows how to contact Dave Dodds, John needs him to help him restore his antique model train.   10751 Valleyhurst Drive, Studio City, 91604.  Dr's have told John they don't know why his health is doing good, so John told them not to rock the boat because he might fall off.  He sends CHEERS!

DON & RUBY PEEK proudly display their newborn great-grandson Luc.  His parents are Liane and Rene, currently living in Monrovia, CA.  Luc was born February 23.  A great-granddaughter was also born on February 26th.  Her name is Rylee Jean, but she was so small (5 lbs. & 5 ozs.) that they nicknamed her "Peanut".  In just six weeks she weighed in at (7 lbs. & 8 ozs.) so she seems to be doing very well.  They live in Morgan Hill, CA.  Don claims that the hardest part of becoming great-grandparents is to consider their youngest son and our youngest daughter as grandparents.  Don and Earl Cole get together for lunch periodically and are looking forward to warmer weather to enjoy some time on the golf links.  Don and Ruby have been sticking pretty close to home aside of the two trips to visit with their new great- grandkids.

JIM GRIDER writes that he has just completed the last of 30 radiation treatments on a golfball-sized tumor on the right side of his neck.  Every day for six weeks which were supplemented weekly by IV's of a chemo-like fluid.  Glad it's over.   The tumor is almost gone, at least it looks like it from the outside.  Jim's mouth & throat feels like the Russian army has just walked through it with their boots on.  Jim heard that Jack Murchison passed away on May 1st.  Jack worked in the mailroom before he was tranferred to the production office to do research.

BILL LYMAN reports that TERRY HACKER and his wife JANE are living in the country in Minnesota.   They are raising a garden and some chickens.  He's looking forward to doing a lot of fishing with all the lakes that are there  He's not ready to take a fishhouse out on the lake yet.  Being a Californian, he's not ready to walk on water.

WAYNE LAWLESS has been appearing on the Long Beach area public access cable show which is seen on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. there.  He has been the guest 20 times so far on a show that is a tribute to 20th century icons.  Mostly dealing with show business topics.  He soon plans to tape a show about all my years at the Los Angeles Times?  It's a lot of fun and I'm getting over my shyness.  Regards to all my friends!!!

BERNARD SAMSTAG says the month of April is sad news for him.  One year ago, he lost his oldest son who died at age 50.  It also marks the month when his number two son became a missing person in 1994 and is presumed to be dead.  On the lighter side, Sam made it through the Soccer Mom/Dad phase with his first family, and now he is a Rowers Parent.  Son Anthony rows with the Marina Aquatic Center nearby and carries on Dad's tradition as a Tenor in the Rainbow Riders Chorale group.  Singing is a great part of the Samstag family and it is keeping them young!

JOHN & BETTY KARLSON say the heat is coming soon to Las Vegas, so they plan to take trips away from home.  They are spending some time this month at an Indian Casino, Avi, just outside of Laughlin on the Colorado River.  In June they are going to Catalina Island for a few days.  They hope to get reservations at Mount Ada which was Wrigley's old home on top of a hill overlooking the bay and Avalon.   We will spend our 2 nights a month at the Nugget.

HARLAN & BETTY HUTCHINS  are doing slightly better, but no major changes.  His hip is improving but now his knee does not like having weight on it.  Betsy still can't get into the truck and Harlan can't get into the Impala.   What to do?  They sold their motorhome a few weeks ago as it was just sitting there depreciating.  It still had not reached 13,000 miles and it cost Harlan $5,000 to replace the roof. (P.S. I did my daughter and son-in-law a favor by co-signing on a motorhome they wanted real bad, then after 2,000 miles they dumped it on me and I could barely pay the monthly insurance and forget the monthly payments. So I gave the motorhome back to the place were they bought it plus $35,000 just to take it off my hands.)  (IT ONLY HAD 2,000 MILES ON IT)  — BILL KELLER

MARGE KAMAKANI reports that she has eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  The latest, her daughter Kitty's daughter Nicole, had her third child in April.  Marge has two more great-grandsons who are currently in the oven, due to arrive in June? Marge claims this might be the reason she feels so old now.

OUT OF THE PAST . . . Enjoying a prelude to a Managers Conference dinner: Harvey Kantor, Leroy Spencer, Lane Leonard, Jim Givens, Tom Lazalde, Hal Benveniste and Paul Ison.

JERRY CLARK reports L.A. Dodger legend Maury Wills was the guest speaker at the Southern California Sports Broadcasters' annual "Talkin Baseball" luncheon at the Lakeside Golf Club in Toluca Lake.  Wills, in his mid 70's, looked like he could still play.  He regaled the audience with stories of his career, including how he finally made the major league after spending 8 1/2 years in the minors.

EDITORS NOTE: Please mark the date of Sunday, August 26th on your calendar for this years Quarter Century luncheon.  Once again, it will be held at the Spaghetti Factory in Fullerton.  Social hour at noon, including dessert will be $18.00 (includes ice tea or soda).  Complete details will be included in the July issue of the Ol' Timers Newsletter.
