Bob was born to Lawrence and Alice Boyd Benjamin in Gainesville, Florida. He joined the Army after High School graduation in 1943. He served in WWII in the Infantry, and was awarded the Philippine Liberation medal, and the Asiatic Pacific Service medal. He was awarded the Purple Heart after being hit by enemy fire.
Upon returning home he moved to California where he met Ruth. They were married for 60 years. They have 3 children, 5 Grand children and 7 Great Grand children.
Bob retired from the Los Angeles Times and He and Ruth enjoyed travel, bird watching and going to Brackett Field to watch the planes. He loved spending time with his family.
Bob never met anyone who wasn't a friend. He could often be found in the neighborhood lending a hand.
He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He went to be with his Lord February 16, 2010
He will be missed!!!
